Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment
LexisNexis is a level 2 B-BBEE contributor.
We believe that successfully managing diversity in the workforce is essential to the continued competitiveness of the company and to an effective Employment Equity Policy.
Whilst we promote from within the company to encourage career development, preference is given to Affirmative Action candidates for all positions advertised externally. LexisNexis affirms the right of every person to participate in employment without regard to race, gender, pregnancy, marital status, family responsibility, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, HIV status, conscience, belief, political opinion, culture, language or birth.
The dignity and worth of individuals to themselves, and to the company, are fostered through the uniform and consistent application of objective personnel practices.
Managing diversity requires valuing employees for their individual contributions and understanding and appreciating the ways in which employees differ from one another. To enable the implementation of this plan, we provide educational and training opportunities and other programmes designed to support supervisors, managers and other employees in their human-resource development responsibilities.
LexisNexis thus charges all supervisory and management employees with sharing in the development and implementation of employment equity plans. Regular reports of progress are made by the Personnel Department and reviewed by each reporting unit of the company.
