Tsiya Group Acquires Minority Interest in LexisNexis South Africa
Investment firm Tsiya Group, chaired by Fani Titi, has acquired a minority interest in LexisNexis® South Africa (www.lexisnexis.co.za), one of the country’s leading providers of content and technology solutions for professionals in legal, corporate, tax, government, academic and non-profit organizations. The investment follows the acquisition by LexisNexis South Africa of Kagiso Media Limited’s 50% shareholding in LexisNexis South Africa in December 2011.
“We’re delighted to have concluded the deal with a person who knows our business well and with a group that can offer us significant strategic value,” said LexisNexis South Africa CEO Billy Last. “We have been incredibly successful in moving from being a pure publishing business into a much broader range of workflow and information solutions for professionals. The company has a very specific digital strategy, which is driving new product and creating significant opportunities for LexisNexis.”
Tsiya is a privately owned investment group that was established in 2008 and focuses on acquiring interests in unlisted businesses. It has a particular interest in the media and information industry and is currently invested in two radio stations, namely Heart FM (which broadcasts in the Western Cape) and Gagasi FM (which broadcasts in KwaZulu Natal). The investment in LexisNexis South Africa serves as a natural extension of Tsiya’s involvement in the media and information industry.
