A full day event dealing with new and revised accounting standards and interpretations that become effective during 2010 and later years. The issue of integrated reporting will also be covered as all entities will be expected to provide such a report in terms of King III. With the new Companies Act expected to come into effect by the end of 2010 the seminar will deal with this act and its regulations, but focus on those issues that are relevant to those with a financial background.

Garth Coppin B Com (Hons) CA(SA) is a partner at Ernst & Young and has been Head of the firm’s Financial Reporting Group for its Africa Sub-Area since 1998.
Garth is a recognised expert in SA GAAP and IFRS. He has been involved in the accountancy profession's standard-setting process since 1991 and is currently on the South African Institute of Chartered Accountant's Accounting Practices Committee. He was a founding member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) GAAP Monitoring Panel and also served on the South African Auditing and Assurance Standards Board and its predecessors for a number of years.
Freddie Kuhn CA(SA) joined Ernst & Young in 2005 and is currently a Senior Manager in its Professional Practice Group. He has a specialist focus on International Standards on Auditing and various legal and regulatory requirements affecting the audit profession today, including the Companies Act. In this role he has delivered presentations on the new Companies Act to Boards and Audit Committees of various South African companies. He also spoke on the Companies Act at one of firm's recent financial reporting updates and assisted in developing collateral regarding the Companies Act. Freddie represents his firm on the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants' (SAICA) Ad-Hoc Committee on Corporate Law and has an intimate knowledge of the changes, advantages and potential pitfalls that this new legislation may bring.
