Consumer Protection Act Seminar – 27 November 2009

A full day seminar brought to you by LexisNexis and presented by Nicky Campbell. This event will outline policy objectives and principles embodied in the Consumer Protection Act. It will examine how everyday business practices are to be regulated and the recourse now available to aggrieved consumers.

With the recent promulgation of the Consumer Protection Act it will no longer be business as usual in South Africa. Every business that deals with the general public is likely to be affected by the Act and decision makers need to be aware of the various laws that have been passed to protect consumers. The government has earmarked over R50 million to fund the implementation of the Act and penalties for non compliance can be up to 10% of a business’s turnover up to a maximum of R10 million.

The Consumer Protection Act revolutionises the marketplace as we have known it as the rights and obligations of key players are realigned and entrenched. The seminar will provide valuable insight into these significant changes.
