VAT Seminar: Zero Rated Supplies 2009 3 November – 6 November 2009
By incorrectly zero-rating your supplies, you are putting your profits at risk. SARS is shifting its focus from corporate income tax to VAT leakages so ensure your company is compliant with a morning seminar presented by Grant Thornton.
About the seminar
With the lack of income from corporate income tax due to the recession, SARS is shifting their focus to VAT. This will significantly increase the likelihood of detection of non-compliance.
Globalisation and electronic trade have placed world markets on our doorstep. This has done wonders for international trade. Unfortunately Value Added Tax has not tracked global developments since its introduction in 1991. Today vendors are faced with significant challenges to manage compliance risks when making zero-rating supplies to international recipients of goods and services. This seminar will highlight the burning issues facing suppliers of goods or services to international recipients.
Why attend the seminar?
Incorrectly zero-rating certain supplies will result in the VAT cost being borne by the South African supplier. In a highly competitive international market a vendor may find that its profit margins are significantly eroded by the VAT costs not budgeted for. A vendor is further exposed to significant penalties and interest where non-compliance occurs. The only way for organisations to mediate these risks is to empower its employees with current information to identify potential problem areas in a proactive fashion.
