Butterworths Legal Citator

Butterworths Legal Citator (BLC) is an online service that gives you a clear advantage when conducting research on the precedential value of reported judgments. The system uses an algorithm based on the principle of stare decisis to examine the way in which reported judgments treat each other as precedent. It examines the strength of those judgments treating others, allowing you to “drill-down” and examines three levels of cross-referring judgments. It further examines the history of reported cases. BLC can operate as a standard index to your law reports or as an incredibly quick and efficient research tool.

The BLC allows the user to hyperlink to relevant primary legal sources (such as law reports and statutes) contained within the My LexisNexis Online Publications web site. The BLC is updated as soon as the published volumes of law reports become available.

BLC is only available online since it is a dynamic programme that is constantly updated.
