POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) serves to protect data subjects. Whilst also ensuring the flow of information and the right to access information.

From the 1st of July, POPIA will radically change how HR and talent management operate, affecting the way companies use data.

  
 
  

As the “Responsible Party” your HR and talent function must prove that it has implemented the correct measures to protect data subjects. A simple mistake with the data sharing procedure can cause legal implications, putting your business at risk.

Companies that are not compliant with POPIA may face significant penalties – up to 10 years’ imprisonment and/or R10 million in administrative fines.
