"What it takes to turn a person who is destitute and vulnerable into a slave, is the absence of the Rule of Law. That is why we are committed to the Rule of Law principle, to establish advanced legal systems in places where human beings are seen as commodities."
Videsha Proothveerajh, LexisNexis Managing Director.

Combatting Human Trafficking

It is estimated that one million people, mostly women and children, are trafficked around the world each year. These people are lured into involuntary servitude and sexual slavery.

South Africa is one of the major source, transit and destination countries for trafficked women and children. Some of the major routes for trafficking include Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Durban and Johannesburg.

LexisNexis is committed to combating human trafficking by offering direct financial support, through promoting awareness, sponsoring victims support and assisting with training and education initiatives.
